Our Vision
To become a champion and centre of excellence in empowering vulnerable communities who have and care for children with special needs, while promoting social inclusion of the individuals and their communities.

Our Mission
Our mission is to create a sense of ubuntu, belonging, pride, and unity among Africans by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the impact a well developed wholistic nutrition knowledge, caregiving practices, learning and development, socialisation and love have on marginalised individuals and communities.

The foundation’s origins can be traced back to the recognition of the diverse and rich cultural heritage of Africa, as well as the immense potential and resilience of its people. Motivated by a desire to harness these strengths and create sustainable change, the foundation embarked on a journey to uplift and empower individuals in various aspects of their lives.

One of the driving forces behind the establishment of the foundation was the need to support children with disabilities. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these children and their families, the foundation set up a dedicated respite centre. This centre provides specialized care, therapy services, and recreational activities, offering a nurturing and supportive environment for children with disabilities to thrive.

As the foundation expanded its efforts, it recognised the power of technology in driving social change and empowering individuals. This led to the development of a mobile app designed to provide access to essential resources and support networks. By leveraging the reach of mobile technology, the foundation aims to bridge gaps and empower individuals across Africa with knowledge, opportunities, and connections.

Moreover, the foundation acknowledges the pivotal role of mothers in shaping families and communities. To support and empower mothers, the foundation organises skills workshops that provide training in various areas such as parenting, income generation, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills. By equipping mothers with valuable knowledge and skills, the foundation aims to enhance their capacity to provide for their families and contribute to the overall development of their communities.
Addressing the issue of food insecurity is another significant aspect of the foundation’s work.

Through the operation of a food bank, the foundation collects and distributes food supplies to individuals and families facing economic challenges including the missing middle UJ students. By ensuring access to nutritious meals, the foundation seeks to alleviate hunger and improve the overall well-being of vulnerable communities.

Lastly, the foundation offers aftercare services to community members who require ongoing support. These services may include counselling, vocational training, job placement assistance, and access to resources and support networks. By providing comprehensive aftercare, the foundation aims to help individuals overcome challenges and regain stability and independence.

With a strong belief in the potential of Africa and its people, the “I am an African Foundation” continues to strive towards its mission of creating positive change and uplifting communities. By addressing critical needs, empowering individuals, and promoting inclusive development, the foundation works towards building a brighter future for Africa.
